Refurbishment of Scotia Works, an old cutlery works across the
road from the railway station, was completed at the
beginning of August 2003. The main focus of the centre is to extend
learning, development and citizenship in socially excluded
communities. Our tenants are social change/enterprise groups with both a national, regional and local focus.
The building lies on a brownfield site and was bought from
Sheffield City Council. Grants from the European Regeneration Fund
and the Townscape Heritage Initiative aided the refurbishment,
which was completed to a high environmental standard and includes a
number of innovative features such as building-height 'light
boxes.
Our work in Sheffield began with the development of Scotia Works,
across from Sheffield Station, which is also the base of our
Regional Management team. We are developing new projects and
links in the area, so watch this space for more information!
We also have centres in Manchester and Leeds providing office space and hot desks for organisations based in the Region.
